Finding Their Voice: Earthsong Music Ambassadors

Earthsong begins by helping children find their musical voice. Now, some of those children are using their voices to help others find theirs.
The Earthsong Music Ambassadors initiative is a new step in the programme’s development, giving pupils an active role in encouraging music, singing and participation across their school communities. Every Earthsong school now has Music Ambassadors and Singing Stops – informal opportunities during break times where children can lead and join in with singing.
The idea is simple: children themselves can be powerful advocates for music. By encouraging their friends to join in, sharing ideas and creating musical moments around school, the ambassadors are helping music become part of everyday school life – while developing their own confidence, communication and leadership skills.
During the 2026 Summer Celebration at Bristol Beacon, Earthsong ambassadors were invited to share their experiences of the programme. Their reflections show how music can become much more than something to learn. For Dusty, music gives him “a sense of kind of belonging” and “a purpose”, while Arlo describes it as “something magical” – even when performing can feel nerve-wracking. Their experiences are already shaping their ambitions, with Arlo dreaming of becoming a singer, conductor and music teacher.
